about

Cruel Sister
Trad.
This follows the arrangement by Pentangle from the Cruel Sister album of 1970, stripping it down to the bare essentials. Cruel Sister is a traditional murder ballad, also known as The Twa Sisters, which is first known to have appeared on a broadside in 1656 as "The Miller and the King's Daughter." The subject matter of the tale goes beyond murder, to deal with necromantic enchantment.
